In any case, there are things you can do, that prove that it is possible to work with large files (I went up to 400 Mb), and it "works" in FreeCAD, for ex. This is what I started to experiment with with the HiRes property of Arch objects, but it still has flaws. ![]() The solution we need to aim for, I think, is definitely what the PartDesign boys and also realthunder with his App::Link experiments have in mind, in the same line with Catia/Digital project: That we have somehow, less shapes in a file, that for all the objects that share a same shape, the shape exists only once, and only the Coin representation is duplicated (or even, not duplicated as realthunder tried). Note that it's not only a FreeCAD problem, try importing large IFC files in other softwares too. Yes that is definitely the biggest problem with IFC.
